U.S. missiles have just bombed Hussein\’s palace. Some weirdo on the radio just said \”That\’s it, it\’s been done,\” but it is about as far from it as imaginable. The U.S. is not even sure that was Hussein on Iraqi television last night. Look at the pictures yourself and see what you think.
Pacifica has been delivering the best news coverage so far, as usual, but good look tuning in over the internet. Their servers have been full since last night. If you manage to get a connection to any of the five stations, leave your software connected, as you might not be able to reconnect for a long time. The Pacifica Foundation have taken an interesting approach and are allowing callers and reporters to swear while they speak, including during prime time hours. The fines for this are incredible and they are really pissing on the rules.
Look very closely at the top of the building in the below. This is Wean Hall at Carnegie Mellon University. In the background you can see the Cathedral of Learning, which is the main building at the University of Pittsburgh. I used to live just a few blocks from there, and looking at that picture I am suddenly homesick for the first time in months. Ups to the five (sometimes former) Pittsburgh yinzers on my friends list. Wean against war!
I have been on my feet all day, my throat is raw, and I am fucking exhausted. Apparently, there are pro-war rallies going on, particularly in Texas. I have not seen any of those today, but from what I have heard, thousands spontaneously hit the streets today, all over the world. I am so proud of one of my alma matters, that I had to supress tears when I first heard the news. It makes me wish that I was a part of something again, even if it that something was just attending some school somewhere.
