By the looks of my MRI, there\’s an Alien living in the space in my pelvic bone. Well, there\’s definitely foreign growth in there, but it\’s nothing from a Sigourney Weaver flick.
\”The results of the examination are as follows:
There are signs of a bone spur projecting off the posterior right aspect of the upper coccyx area. There are several small follicles on each of the ovaries. The right ovary measures 4cm in greatest dimension. The left ovary measures 3.8cm.\”
Oral directives said to get a sonogram to check out the follicle growth. Despite having just seen the gyno last week for a check-up and being told that all was well after pressing on my ovaries, the sonogram reveals otherwise. Polycystic ovarian syndrome. My maternal grandmother had that; it caused one of her ovaries to burst when she was in her 20s, so she had to get it removed.
Things that go hand in hand with polycystic ovarian syndrome: weight gain around the stomach that does not respond to diet or exercise (yup), sleep apnea (check), missing and/or prolonged periods (check on both), acne that does not clear with medication (check), oily skin (check), seborrhea (flaky, scaley skin of the scalp and face — check), extended PMS symptoms (oh yeah), acanthosis nigricans (patches of dark brown skin — got two large ones on my shoulders), and chronic pelvic pain (definitely).
So I\’ve got pain in my ass that\’s caused from my tailbone attempting to grow a tail, and pain in my front lower abdomen around my hip bone because my ovaries are trying to tell me they want out.
Doctor, just take it all out, please. I feel like a freak.
