Write Love Letters

Write love letters. Write lots of them.

Make it a daily practice; start a campaign; make it a new tradition for birthdays.

Write them to the people you love and write them to your frenemies. Tell them why they matter to you.

Write them to your crushes, your squishes, and your metamours. Tell them why you value their presence in your life.

Write them on the arms of your lovers while you hold each other in the darkest parts of the night.

Write them in the sand on the beach, because while the words may fade, their impact is forever.

Write them to your children, the ones who are growing, the ones you won’t have, and the ones who have passed.

Write them to your mentors, your teachers, to those who have opened your heart and mind.

Write them to your favorite painters, composers, and writers, thanking them for their beauty and passion.

Write them to your plumber, your mechanic, your local crossing guard, honoring them for their labor, which is too often taken for granted.

Write them to yourself, because we so infrequently receive love from others, let alone from ourselves.

Write love letters.
