Couldn\’t sleep, up watching A&E\’s \’Live By Request\’ with David Bowie, and I am creaming myself with delight that Aaron and I have tickets to Area2 with Bowie in July.
Anyway, I am completely jizzing myself because Bowie\’s live act sounds tighter than it has in years, and I am totally grooving to it. The new album is far better than the last (which in my opinion is not hard; I understand wanting to try everything but I cannot get into All Saints at all, and hours… was such a let down after Earthling and Outside. I know I am going to get blasted for not being a proper music critic/fan for saying this, but Earthling and Outside are my favorite Bowie albums, hands down. I think they are perhaps his most challenging works, and while everyone goes on and on about his albums from the \’70s, but personally I think there is more growth in the more recent works–and I do not just think that because I like rocking dance music more than straight out rock.
Back to the point. Bowie and co finished out the show with \”I\’m Afraid Of Americans\” which is my hands down favorite Bowie song ever–and I see Mark going \’that\’s just bloody typical of you, \’dra\’. Eff off. hehe I think the score is phenomenal the way it builds and drones, and the lyrics I cannot help but agree with. Well, A&E\’s did not censor the \”Johnny wants pussy and cars\” line on the repeat of the show, and A&E\’s is a pretty uptight and stuffy channel, so I guess it goes to show how very far social mores have come (and been lost) in terms of language.
I cannot fucking sleep and I am getting more and more batty. Christ.
