This past week I spent Tuesday evening through Thursday morning, and Friday night through Monday morning (4am), asleep. This is probably due to the fact that my body is coming to a crashing halt. It\’s telling me, \”No more of this! No more insomnia, no more drunken week nights, no more bringing four men home at 3am on Saturday morning, no more no more no more!\” It\’s been damn fun, though, and it\’s not over yet. This week has to be the last of it though, or I\’m going to have a full on relapse.

THE SUN IS RISING ON SHAW, MY LOVELIES, and it is going to be a beautiful day. April 10, 2006. I have to leave for work in the next 15 minutes in order to beat today\’s day-tripper\’s. DC is looking to have upward of 180,000 protestors from Meridian Hill to the Mall. Post work and pre-moving, I want to see you there. CCTV, be damned.

Because, see, I happen to agree with Richard Kim at The Nation, that if we\’re really after equal rights for all, then arguing for one set of rights before another is nothing but establishing a pecking order, which eradicates the word \’equality.\’ Gay rights, immigrant rights, disabled access, free speech, the Equal Rights Amendment — we want equality, not a pecking order. There ought not be a line for freedom, which is why it\’s important to rally behind each other. So get your asses out the door and protest HR 4437 for the National Day of Action for Immigrant Justice.

Post-protest, I\’m moving all my shit from Emerson Haus, and the alley cave into a giant van, gypsy-like — which is appropriate because the gypsies are coming to town on Thursday for a double header. Do not forget the late night, where they will be playing for us, again, at everyone\’s favorite den of inequity (you know the place).

I\’ll be hoboing around for awhile, and then on May 1 — how fitting that it should be May Day, the International Worker\’s rights Day — it\’s the Great American Boycott: A National Day Without an Immigrant. I know immigrants, you know immigrants: we\’re all friends here. Time to support our friends, yeah? I\’m thinking of a few people in particular and many, many people in general.

If\’n all goes well, by the end of this month I\’ll have three more credits and my new home. More or less, I have conquered the age of 24. Which is good, because in June I turn 25 and head back to Australia…
