Am now officially out of all my medication. Took my last tapered Effexor yesterday and now it\’s all gone. Nothing but trouble left. But, what\’s this? A call from FedEx!
\”Hi, your package has been cleared and will arrive on Monday.\”
\”Monday? ##@!!@#\”
\”Yes, it is currently in Sydney and will not be leaving Sydney until tonight.\”
\”But it was shipped with 4 day global shipping on the 24th of March! It has my medication in it! I don\’t have any more medication! I need my medication!\”
\”Sorry, Miss. And by the way, you will need to pay $104 for cash on delivery.\”
\”What?!?\”
\”Import tax.\”
\”But I\’m not a resident! I\’m a visitor, and everything in there is a personal item that will be leaving with me in August.\”
\”Sorry, Miss.\”
FUUUUUUUUCK.
On the other hand, my serum just arrived, finally. Finally cleared from customs and in my arms. Incidentally, it left the States a week after the FedEx shipment of my other medication did. And it\’s still cold. They kept it in the fridge as promised. That\’s really great. But on the other, other hand, I can\’t take my serum now because one, I can\’t take it if I\’m already feeling ill (like Effexor withdrawal), and two, it\’s been a lot longer than six weeks since my last shots at this point, which means I have to contact my clinic back in the States to find out what dose to take so that I don\’t end up in anaphylactic shock again. And of course, the clinic is closed.
Called FedEx to see what they could do for me. Four day delivery turned into almost three weeks. Totally dropping of the ball with them not contacting me to get things taken care of. Need my medication. What about same day shipping?
\”To get the package to arrive in Brisbane today from Sydney will cost $169 plus a $15 fee. And you still will have to pay the import tax.\”
What the effing fuck?
Now Dr Maude is bitching at me because I\’m going to be in the throes of some serious withdrawal all weekend and because I am not assertive enough to make FedEx deliver the package to me today without charging me a shitload of money. How am I supposed to make them do what they won\’t do?
Add the above to a credit card processing company threatening to shut down one of my client\’s sites unless huge changes are made immediately to the site. Add to that the huge DNS outage in the States that has led to a bunch of e-mails about the server being down (though it isn\’t) and trying to explain through a language barrier to the co-lo about a national DNS outage through Comcast… they\’re not understanding it and are instead telling me that I have the DNS for some of the co-ops domains done wrong. Which makes sense that those domains have been working just fine for more than a year until today\’s DNS outage, when suddenly — according to the co-lo, but thankfully not according to my tech-savvy co-op member, bless his heart — they stop working due to a mistake I supposedly made in the DNS. Uh huh. Yup.
It\’s not even noon yet. I need a fucking drink.
Somebody give me a reason to smile, please. I could really use some cheering up.
