Yesterday evening Mayor Williams of Washington, DC had a live interview during the five o\’clock hour of NBC 4 news in which he said that the only way for DC residents to be fully represented as citizens of the U.S. may be to start performing acts of civil disobedience, which he whole heartedly backs. Williams drew corrolation to the non-representation of D.C. residents to the non-representation during the Civil Rights movement in the \’50s which was brought to a climax in August of 1963 with a massive march on Washington. Williams said that such actions as those used during the Civil Rights movement may be the only means in which residents of D.C. will finally be recognized as full citizens, and as such, he supported those actions, were they to take place.

The conundrum is that I watched this interview, and then I watched \”News 4 at 6\” soundbite that portion of the interview in its \”Top Stories\” segment, but now, eighteen hours later, I can find no evidence of that interview. It is not mentioned on the NBC 4 web site, nor in The Washington Post, The Washington Times, the Mayor\’s Office News page, or in MSNBC\’s D.C. News page. I smell a cover up.

I also smell a conspiracy. (Thanks to ward_54 for the link.) This isn\’t exactly news. In fact, many publications have been breaking various parts of this story of months, but they have all been hushed or ignored. Mother Jones put it on the cover of their January/February issue which came out in December. Now the book that may finally break the camel\’s back is coming out, and the big media is finally taking notice. But for how long? How long until Bush\’s public relations machine of doom and censorship puts a lid on it?

Alec Empire vs George W. Bush: \”America, you should leave,\” vs \”We are all Americans.\” Maybe what we need to do is deposit Bush in Berlin without his massive arsenal of bodyguards and watch what happens.
